Classic London Fog trench look

Although I prefer my trench coats in black leather, Nordstrom is currently featuring this classically-styled hooded khaki trench coat by London Fog.  I especially like how they've paired it with some tall black leather high-heeled boots.  The perfect look for a rainy fall day!

Happy 49th Birthday to Sandra Bullock!

The Birthday Girl proved recently that she can still rock the black leather look, whether it's a dress or sexy pencil skirt.  She also pulls off the classic "black leather jacket and boots" look quite nicely.  And the sexy ponytail is an added bonus!

Jeffrey Campbell "Militant" black thigh-high boots for $230 at Nordstrom

I was really excited when I saw these super tall (28"!) Jeffrey Campbell "Militant" boots on the Nordstrom website for $229.95.  They reminded me of the Stuart Weitzman "Hilo" boots I liked so much, only for half the price and a few inches taller.  However, my enthusiasm waned when I saw they were actually faux leather.  Interesting that the Nordstrom website lists conflicting information as to the materials used - leather and textile upper.  I checked other websites and sure enough, they are faux leather.  I should have known that you couldn't get real leather designer thigh-high boots for that price!

While they look like real leather in the Nordstrom photos, they definitely look more like faux leather in the modeled photo I found, right down to the stitching at the top of the shaft.  As much as I like the style and height, I'm a purist when it comes to leather and it has to be real or nothing.

Diane von Furstenberg leather opera gloves for $101 at TheRealReal

It's good that these Diane von Furstenberg long black leather opera gloves on TheRealReal.com were way too small at a size 6.5 because I would have snapped them up.  They were priced at $125 and with the site's current 20% off promotion, would have been a deal at $101 plus shipping.

These gloves feature very simple, classic styling with only a small gold-tone logo stud at the opening for detail.  They're an impressive 21.5" long and silk-lined.  Even better, the condition was listed as "Pristine, with tags."

As they were already sold when I searched for "gloves" on the site, someone else knew a good deal when they saw one!

Nordstrom Pre-Fall Sale is just around the corner!

One of the first signs of Fall, at least fashion-wise, is Nordstrom's anniversary (pre-fall) sale.  Since I'm not a Nordstrom card holder, I can't check out the preview sale this week, but I'm looking forward to it next week.

However, Nordstrom is already teasing me with ads in my browser for their Miss Wu collection. While the collection features several nice leather pieces, like leggings, skirts and dresses, I was intrigued by the models wearing long leather gloves nicely scrunched to the elbows.

I love the text which accompanies this above photo: Take your jacket off, but leave your protective-yet-pretty accessories on when you get inside. These sleek, leather gloves deserve a lot more play time than just during your commute.

Even though the weather is just now heating up where I live, it's nice to think about cooler Fall days a few months from now!
